Zelenskyy outlines his expectations from Trump and the U.S.

Zelenskyy wants a clear stance from the U.S. on Russia. Ukraine does not agree with the US role as a neutral mediator.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy states that he wants the United States to recognize Russia as the aggressor and not to seek balance in their wording.

He said this in an interview with American journalist Ben Shapiro.

Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine views the U.S. as a strong strategic partner with influence. Kyiv also seeks to achieve peace through strength.

“It would be useful for Russia if strength were directed against them, because they are the aggressor,” the President said.

Zelenskyy notes that the U.S. has chosen to act as a mediator in ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. However, Kyiv wants Washington to acknowledge Moscow as the aggressor.

“We strive for mutual understanding that the aggressor is Russia, not us. We very much want the United States not to seek balance in these words. I understand what President Donald Trump is aiming for. I deeply respect the fact that he is seeking his own approach. That is his approach,” the Head of State says.

He also once again thanked the American leader and the people for the assistance provided to Ukraine. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has received about $104–105 billion from the U.S., mostly in the form of weapons.
