Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said preparations are under way for unprecedented ten-year agreements with Middle Eastern countries. Kyiv is counting on strategic cooperation in defense technologies and efforts to address shortages in air defense systems.

The head of state said this in a conversation with journalists.

Concluding a series of visits to Middle Eastern countries, Zelenskyy noted that the Ukrainian delegation had already visited Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Jordan, while maintaining contact with other partners in the region. National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov is continuing the work, with further official negotiations planned.

“I believe these are historic agreements. We are agreeing on strategic cooperation in miltech and in other areas. We are talking about ten-year agreements. This is mutual assistance, of course. We are also interested in anti-ballistic capabilities. You know we have a shortage in this area,” the president said.

Ukraine is also focusing on energy issues, including diesel fuel supplies, alongside defense cooperation.

The president stressed that the future legal formalization of these agreements would be of exceptional importance, as Ukraine had never previously achieved such a level of cooperation with countries in this region.
