Russia, the aggressor state, has bluntly rejected the idea of a Christmas truce proposed by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during talks in Berlin. Ukraine supported the proposal.

The Kremlin’s position was voiced by Russian president Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov.

The press secretary of the Russian «führer» said that Ukraine could use such a truce as «a breather» to prepare for the continuation of hostilities. At the same time, Peskov said Moscow supposedly «intends to stop the war and achieve its objectives.»

«We want peace. We do not want a ceasefire that would give Ukraine a breather and allow it to prepare for the continuation of the war, ” the Kremlin representative falsely claimed.

According to him, further developments will depend on whether, as U.S. President Donald Trump has said, Russia and Ukraine reach a deal or not. Russia’s position on the matter, Peskov stressed, is «well known, consistent, transparent and clear.»
