The ministry is demanding that all those responsible for the abduction of Ukrainian citizens on Hungarian territory and their inhumane treatment be held accountable.

This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi in a comment to TSN.ua, responding to a report by The Guardian about the use of unknown substances on one of the cash-in-transit guards from Oschadbank.

The spokesman said Ukraine had already condemned Hungary’s actions as unacceptable, describing them as effectively amounting to torture. He stressed that the reported facts must receive proper legal assessment during ongoing investigations.

“We have also referred to the denial of medical assistance required by one of the detainees, as well as the injection of a substance that worsened his condition. It is important that the information published in the media is thoroughly examined in legal terms during investigations and relevant court proceedings, which are currently underway,” he said.

The Foreign Ministry insists on punishment for those involved in human rights violations and the theft of state property.

“The official position of the Ukrainian side remains unchanged: we demand that all those responsible for the abduction and inhumane treatment of our citizens, the violation of their rights, and the theft of funds and valuables belonging to the state-owned Oschadbank be held accountable, and we demand their return,” Tykhyi said.
