President Zelenskyy responded to Russia’s strikes on Ukrainian cities on August 18.

«This was an absolutely deliberate and cynical Russian strike. They know that today in Washington there is a meeting to end the war. Everyone wants a dignified peace and real security. And at this very moment, the Russians are striking Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy region, Odesa — hitting residential buildings and our civilian infrastructure. This is a conscious killing of people by the Russians, the killing of children, ” he said.
«The Russian military machine continues to destroy lives despite everything. Putin is deliberately killing to keep pressuring Ukraine and Europe, and to humiliate diplomatic efforts. That is why we are waiting for help to stop the killings. That is why reliable security guarantees are needed. That is why Russia must not receive any reward for this war. The war must be ended. And the word „stop“ must come from Moscow, ” the President added.
