Expert identifies most effective method for downing "Shahed" drones

Light aircraft are the most effective means of intercepting "Shahed" drones and aerostats should also be considered, aviation expert Kostiantyn Kryvolap said on Kyiv24 when asked how Ukraine can protect its airspace.

“When we conducted the operation in Russia’s Kursk region, we used aerostats produced by a Ukrainian company. Communications in the Kursk region were maintained thanks to relay transmitters installed on our tethered aerostats,” Kryvolap said.

According to the expert, Ukraine has received around 200 radars from its partners, and deploying aerostats equipped with those radars would make it possible to fully cover the entire border.

“This would ensure that we do not miss a single object entering our airspace,” Kryvolap said.
