Following Russian attempts to damage a bridge linking the Korabel district with central Kherson, speculation began to spread about a possible landing operation in the area.

A Russian landing operation in Kherson’s Korabel district is unlikely. Head of Kherson’s City Military Administration, Yaroslav Shanho said this in an interview with UNIAN.

Shanho was asked whether there is a threat of a new Russian offensive on Kherson. He said he could not comment on military matters but does not expect such an operation, as the area is located several kilometers from the front line.

"Kherson is located 2 to 4 kilometers from the active combat zone. The security situation here is dynamic and may change constantly — either for the worse or in our favor. But I would not say the destruction of the bridge gives the enemy an advantage," he said.

Strikes on the only bridge over the Koshova River began a week ago: the reason for the strikes is the terrorizing of civilians.

"This is a deliberate practice of terrorizing civilians to sow panic among people. The logic behind the actions of the Russian Federation's military is very hard to explain because they constantly shoot anywhere and with anything. They don't care where they hit, as long as it causes more suffering," he added.
