Russian forces are escalating the number of attacks on the border communities of Sumy region. However, the occupiers are unable to advance deeper into Ukrainian territory in this sector of the front.
This was stated by Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, on the air of a telethon.
"The enemy cannot advance deeper into Ukrainian territory thanks to the resilience and heroism of Ukrainian defenders, including units of the Armed Forces and the State Border Guard Service. Infantry groups that the enemy attempts to send into our territory are being actively destroyed," Demchenko emphasized.
In the border area, Russian soldiers are actively using combat aviation, including guided aerial bombs and unguided aerial rockets.
Demchenko notes that, in addition to targeting Ukrainian defenders' positions, the enemy is also carrying out deliberate strikes on populated areas. The most vulnerable communities remain Yunakivka and Khotyn, where shelling occurs almost daily.
