North Korean servicemen have been observed among units supporting Russian occupation forces in the Sumy region. The Russian command is deploying them, among other roles, to adjust fire against Ukrainian defensive lines.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

“These units conduct reconnaissance using unmanned aerial vehicles from the territory of Russia’s Kursk region. They identify the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and assist in adjusting fire on Ukrainian defensive lines in the Sumy region,” the statement reads.

In particular, Ukraine’s Defence Forces recorded communications between North Korean UAV operators and Russian army personnel.

“The North Korean drone operators were directing rocket artillery fire on the positions of Ukrainian troops,” the General Staff added.

Due to critical manpower losses and the failure of the offensive in the Sumy region, Russian leadership continues to deploy North Korean units in active combat operations.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Armed Forces are documenting all verified instances of foreign involvement in the aggression. Units, participating in hostilities against Ukraine, will be neutralised in accordance with the laws and rules of warfare.
