Russia hits Cherkasy indoor arena during children’s training session: Details

During the night of December 19, Russian occupiers struck Ukraine’s sports infrastructure. This time, the target of the hostile attack was an indoor athletics arena in the city of Cherkasy.

The statement was published by Minister of Youth and Sports Matvii Bidnyi on his social media page.

According to the official, the strike hit a venue where children typically train and prepare for international competitions. Bidnyi sharply condemned the actions of the occupiers and appealed to the global sports community.

«Preliminarily, there were no injuries. The attack ahead of a nationwide athletics tournament once again demonstrated that the aggressor plays by no rules. It raises the question of whether the International Olympic Committee or international sports federations will respond to this shelling. This is what „sport outside politics.“ looks like, ” the minister said.
