Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi says that Russia’s military continues to change its tactics in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
He made the comments on Thursday, October 2, following a working meeting on boosting capabilities to counter enemy strike drones.
According to Syrskyi, Russian forces have recently adjusted their targets for drone strikes.
«Russian occupiers have stepped up attacks on frontline areas and border regions. They are actively striking critical infrastructure and civilian targets, ” the army chief said.
Syrskyi reported that in September the enemy used almost 6,900 drones in mass attacks across Ukraine, of which more than 3,600 were Shaheds.
He added that the meeting agreed a number of measures to strengthen air defence in these sectors, including increasing the number of interceptor drone crews.
Other approaches are also being used, Syrskyi noted, such as downing enemy UAVs with attack helicopters and light aircraft, which are considered particularly effective against Russian drones operating at higher altitudes.
