Ukraine is set to sign a comprehensive 20-point peace plan with the United States, while a separate document is planned for signature between the US and Russia.
This was said by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, in an interview with European Pravda.
According to the minister, the term «security guarantees» is officially mentioned in the negotiation process for the first time. Ukraine’s European partners are also involved and will participate in agreements to ensure lasting peace.
One of the most crucial elements of the future agreement, Andrii Sybiha said, is the presence of foreign military contingents on Ukrainian territory. He noted that several European partners have already expressed their readiness to provide units. However, the implementation of this initiative is only possible with a US «backstop» — direct support and guarantees from the United States.
The new security framework is expected to include a deterrence package designed to ensure the Russian regime fully understands the consequences of violating peace agreements. The minister emphasized that the key tool of such deterrence is Ukraine’s military self-sufficiency, particularly through the development of domestic production of modern air defense systems and long-range weaponry.
