What will be Ukraine's sole effective security guarantee: Third Assault Brigade lays bare

Russia has never honored its promises in any format regarding a halt to hostilities. The only effective security guarantee for Ukraine would be the deployment of NATO or U.S. troops in the combat zone.

Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Zhorin of the Third Army Regiment said this on KYIV24.

According to Zhorin, ceasefires, pauses, or lulls have never worked since 2014. He stresses that with Russia, such arrangements are fundamentally impossible. International organizations, missions, and signed agreements dividing land, sea, or air — none of it produces results.

“It must be understood that no matter what Russia promises or what guarantees it gives, it will still be just a pause. Ukraine must use this pause to its advantage,” Zhorin says.

In his view, a credible guarantee of security would require NATO or U.S. forces stationed directly on the front lines. But at present, these countries are not showing readiness to commit.

“In all other scenarios, the situation will depend entirely on Russia’s whim — whether to fire or hold fire, to advance or not, to provoke or refrain. We'll keep logging and passing on the info. The UN will turn a blind eye again, staring right at the evidence in broad daylight and seeing nothing. This whole farce will just play out all over again,» the lieutenant colonel remarks.

Only with NATO troops present at the front, Zhorin emphasizes, would Russia think twice before taking any action.
