Zaluzhnyi responds to potential creation of space forces in Ukraine

Former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and current Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, commented on the government’s decision to establish the Space Forces by the end of 2025.

He wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

Zaluzhnyi considers this step, though overdue, highly relevant and critically necessary for the country’s defense capability.

«It’s time to look to space, because the only way to achieve the necessary level of security now lies in technological superiority across all domains, ” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

In Zaluzhnyi’s view, this decision is «very good, ” as it finally acknowledges that the high-tech nature of warfare and future security threats demand the immediate development of national aerospace technologies and capabilities. Zaluzhnyi calls this a key element of Ukraine’s defense.

The creation of Space Forces is outlined in the government’s program of activities. By December 31, 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers plans to achieve 60% operational readiness for an integrated air and missile defense system, including cyber and space components.
