Ukraine has discussed with Donald Trump the idea of a meeting with Vladimir Putin in the United States. The format was specifically designed to make it exceptionally difficult for the Russian leader to decline.

This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump-Zelenskyy meeting: What was agreed

According to Zelenskyy, previous attempts to organize peace talks, aimed at ending the war, have failed due to the Kremlin’s stance. Specifically, Russia rejected proposals to meet at any other location. Putin also declined to participate in negotiations on the sidelines of the G7 summit alongside democratic nations—a proposal that had been actively discussed with the United States and France.

«We will see what comes of this. If Russia rejects this opportunity as well, additional pressure will be required,» Zelenskyy said.

The full list of conditions and specific details regarding the negotiation process for the proposed meeting in the U.S. remain confidential. The Ukrainian president stressed that Putin’s previous stance demonstrated a fundamental unwillingness to make genuine decisions to halt hostilities.
