The first of 150 Gripen jets pledged by Sweden are expected to arrive in Ukraine next year.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Telegram.

"Together with Sweden, Ukraine will significantly bolster its combat aviation. This is an ambitious task, and it must be fulfilled. A historic step has now been taken — an agreement with Sweden on Gripen fighter jets, and it is the right choice. We are counting on 150 of these aircraft for Ukraine, with the first expected next year,” he wrote.

Zelenskyy added that the Gripen jets for Ukraine are part of its security guarantees.

“No agreement of this scale for Ukraine’s combat aviation has ever been made before. A historic achievement. We are working to fully implement it,” he added.
