President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that Russia struck a Ukrainian plant manufacturing long-range «Flamingo» missiles, causing a delay in large-scale production.
He said this in an interview with Tagesschau.
«A Ukrainian plant where Flamingo missiles were produced was struck. There was a delay in production. Later, production resumed and a certain number of missiles were produced, ” Zelenskyy said.
The president is confident that the number of «Flamingo» missiles will increase to ensure Ukraine has the capability to respond symmetrically to Russia’s air attacks.
Zelenskyy said «Flamingo» missiles had already destroyed several depots and a weapons plant inside Russia.
According to him, Ukrainian forces are monitoring the production of Russia’s «Oreshnik» missiles, and that this is shaping further tasks for the «Flamingo» missiles and other Ukrainian long-range capabilities.
«Russia is concealing „Oreshnik“. We understand why. At present, they have three systems on the territory of the Russian Federation — at least those we can see. We want to have even greater capabilities. When there are many air defense systems, attacks have to be combined, just as the Russians attack us. A large number of drones are used, followed by missile launches. It is difficult to overcome air defense systems. But we are working on it, ” Zelenskyy said.
