Russia has fired roughly 1,300 attack drones, more than 1,200 guided bombs and 50 missiles at Ukraine over the past week, most of them ballistic, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“Today Odesa, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Sumy regions came under enemy attack. As before, the main target is energy infrastructure. Russia deliberately combines strikes to destroy our generation capacity, substations and grid. Many strikes hit residential infrastructure. Our troops intercept a significant number of missiles, but unfortunately not all. That is why there can be no pause in protecting lives,” he said.
Separately, the president highlighted Ukraine’s aid package until 24 February.
“In Munich, we agreed with leaders of the Berlin Format on specific energy and military aid packages for Ukraine by February 24.”
Zelenskyy also warned of a new massive strike on Ukraine. Russia is likely to strike Ukraine’s energy sector.
Overnight attack details
Russian drones attacked Ukrainian railway infrastructure in Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba said in the morning.
In Odesa region, drone strikes damaged buildings on the territory of a depot belonging to Ukrzaliznytsia.
“A large-scale fire broke out on the site — a tank wagon caught fire. All specialized emergency services worked to deal with the aftermath — the fire was extinguished, the minister said.
Russian occupation forces also attacked the communities of Nikopol, Pokrovsk and Marhanets with kamikaze drones and artillery. A 40-year-old man and three women were injured. Passenger cars caught fire and private houses were damaged.
Fires broke out at impact sites in Odesa, where more than 100 rescuers were involved. Russia attacked the city almost all night.
