Zelenskyy says if Russia has confirmed next talks

Neither Ukraine nor the US has received official confirmation from Russia about its readiness for the meeting scheduled for next week. While the Ukrainian side and its American partners are working to organize the talks, Moscow is responding to diplomatic efforts with manipulations and new attacks on Ukrainian cities.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening address.

Kremlin avoids response, uses manipulation

President Zelenskyy stressed that, despite the ongoing efforts of the Ukrainian negotiation team, the Russian side is avoiding concrete answers. Rather than pursuing diplomatic dialogue, the aggressor is using its familiar tactics of intimidation and information manipulation.

«Our negotiating team is working continuously. They are in contact with the American side. Ukraine is ready for the meeting. Unfortunately, we still do not have solid responses from Russia about what has been proposed for next week. „So far, all we hear are further manipulations involving „Oreshnik“ — this is definitely not about peace, ” the president said.

He added that daily missile strikes and drone attacks only complicate the road to peace. The president stressed that Russia must not gain any concessions for its aggression, as this would create a threat to the whole of Europe.

«The Russians must not become accustomed to thinking that their missiles and „Shaheds“ are helping them. They only complicate things and undermine the already limited diplomatic opportunities. That is why Ukraine needs support. There must be sufficient pressure on Russia. The war must end with guaranteed security, without giving the aggressor any rewards for this war, ” Zelenskyy said.

Demands on Ukrainian diplomacy

The president also set firm demands to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ukrainian embassies abroad. He expects Ukrainian diplomats to act decisively to ensure the world continues to recognize the country’s needs and keep pressure on Russia.

«We also expect sufficient activity from the entire Ukrainian diplomatic system, including the MFA and every Ukrainian embassy. If an embassy is silent, it is failing in its duties. Ukraine must be heard everywhere in the world, and assistance must be provided at home. I expect tangible results in support of Ukraine already this week, ” Zelenskyy said.
