On the night of July 12, Russian forces launched a massive strike across Ukraine — from the northern regions to the west of the country.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this in his morning address on Telegram.
According to him, the enemy used 26 cruise missiles and 597 drones, more than half of which were "Shaheds." Despite the scale of the attack, Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized over 20 missiles and the majority of the kamikaze drones. The President thanked the air defense units for their effective work.
Unfortunately, not all targets were intercepted — some strikes hit civilian infrastructure. In particular, two people were killed in Chernivtsi, and about 20 Ukrainians were injured, including residents of apartment buildings. All the victims are receiving medical care.
“The pace of Russia’s airstrikes demands swift decisions, and it can be disrupted with sanctions right now. Tough secondary sanctions are needed against all who help Russians produce drones and profit from oil,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President also highlighted the need to increase deliveries of air defense systems and to invest in interceptor drones, which are already proving effective on the front line.
“The war can only be stopped by force. We expect not just signals from our partners, but actions that save lives,” the Head of State concluded.
