Zelenskyy responds to missile strike on school in Odesa region: «Absolutely insane attack»

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded to the Russian strike on a lyceum in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Odesa region. At least two people were killed as a result of the attack.

The Commander-in-Chief wrote about this on Telegram.

As Zelensky noted, there were no children in the school at the time — it is currently summer break — but staff members were present.

«Unfortunately, there may still be people trapped under the rubble. At least two deaths have already been confirmed. My condolences to their families and loved ones,» the President stated.

The lyceum was almost completely destroyed. Rescue operations are ongoing, with all necessary services involved.

«None of these Russian strikes are accidental — the Russian military knows exactly where it is hitting. These are deliberate, demonstrative attacks. The Russian leadership has no intention of changing or voluntarily ending the war,» he stressed.

That is why, Zelensky continued, there must be real and painful increases in pressure and sanctions against Russia.

«We are now defending ourselves from Russian strikes. But if Russia is not forced to peace, others in Europe will have to think about protecting schools, hospitals, and ordinary homes — anywhere Russian killers might strike. These killings and attacks must be stopped. Russia must be pressured,» the President urged the international community.
