Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responds whether Russia could use a 30-day ceasefire to prepare for a new offensive.

The Head of State said this during a media interaction on May 13, 2025.

“I believe that this timeframe would not be sufficient for anyone to fully restore their forces. A 30-day ceasefire is more about de-escalation, about opening the possibility for dialogue. That’s what it’s about,” Zelenskyy stated.

The President also commented on how a 30-day ceasefire might affect arms supplies to Ukraine:

“That’s why the United States and Europe react the way they do when Russia, for example, says they want no arms deliveries during this period. Deliveries don’t work that way. It won’t help anyone, including the Russians. Stop deliveries? What deliveries? They’ve been in Europe for months — specific equipment, specific weapons. This isn’t even a secret to the Russians; they understand this.”

Zelenskyy notes that weapons sent from the United States six months ago are still arriving.

“So, this won’t help. That’s not the point. This condition is not practical or structural. It’s meaningless. Only people who don’t understand the format of arms deliveries would talk about this,” the President said.
