Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has outlined four key elements required to end the war and establish a sustainable peace, as presented by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
What is required for peace in Ukraine
The Ukrainian foreign ministry maintains that achieving peace requires:
- Legally binding bilateral security guarantees from the United States;
- A military presence of partners on Ukrainian territory ("boots on the ground") backed by the US;
- EU membership for Ukraine as a core element of its security guarantees;
- Strengthening the Ukrainian military alongside a support package to deter future aggression.
Sybiha considers Ukraine's proposal to be "realistic and feasible" for Putin.
"Ukraine's proposal to Putin for ending the war is realistic and feasible. It is a chance for his regime to avoid collapse," the minister said.
He stressed that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin must recognize he will never achieve his goals in Ukraine on the battlefield.
