The statements from US President Donald Trump regarding Ukraine indicate that he wants to distance himself from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. He does not mention support for Ukraine or America’s involvement in resolving the war.

Captain first rank and Head of Security Programs at the Center for Globalistics «Strategy XXI» Pavlo Lakiychuk said this on the air of «KYIV24.»

He emphasized that Trump’s statements have taken on a less pro-Russian tone. However, they are not aimed at supporting Ukraine, but rather at acknowledging its ability to resist.

As the expert underscored, Trump does not say that Ukraine might refuse to sign some agreement with Russia. He says that it can defend its territories on its own — together with Europeans, not Americans.

«No words about US involvement in resolving the war. No words about assistance to Ukraine from the United States. Neither at the General Assembly nor during the subsequent meeting. Most likely, this is the first attempt to step aside from resolving the conflict. To forget about it,» the expert explained.
