Ukraine could be left without U.S. weapons by fall: Here’s why

After September 2025, Ukraine may be left without financial support from the United States. The new draft U.S. defense budget does not include any funds for assistance to the Ukrainian army.
This was stated by diplomat Valeriy Chalyi.
According to him, the current weapons supplies — although unblocked after heated debates in Congress — are temporary and will end with the close of the fiscal year, already this September. Further funding is not yet provided for by any legislative initiative.
“These are all political decisions. But according to U.S. law, a deliberate halt to supplies after a congressional decision is grounds for impeachment of the president and prison for the bureaucrat,” Chalyi emphasized.
He noted that the draft defense budget for 2025 contains no funding for Ukraine, and other legislative mechanisms currently have no prospects. Public discussions mention only hypothetical sums for 2026 — up to $800 million. However, there is no lend-lease, and no new aid packages either.
Chalyi warns that such “situational maneuvers” are only possible until the end of the fiscal year. After October 1, deliveries may stop, and unused funds may be canceled.
“Therefore, let’s not emotionally shake the already war-weary nerves of our fellow citizens, but rather seek solutions to fund defense after October 1 of this year,” the diplomat concluded.
