Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stresses there are currently no official talks with the Russian Federation because Moscow has demonstrated no interest in dialogue.

The president said this on December 9, while responding to journalists’ questions via audio messages.

«We are not holding negotiations with Russia. They are not interested in dialogue, ” Zelenskyy said. „At the same time, we are actively maintaining contact and exchanging information with the U.S. side, for which we are grateful for the constructive engagement.“

Zelenskyy said Russia’s actions now largely consist of attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, energy facilities and residential areas, cutting electricity to civilians.

«This is not a sign of any intention to engage in a peace process, ” he said.

The president said that Ukraine continues to work on defending its interests and upholding diplomatic channels where there is genuine readiness for dialogue.
