President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the issue of nuclear weapons for Ukraine is not being discussed, stressing that talks with partners focus instead on security guarantees, air defense and protection on land, in the air and at sea.

Speaking to Ukrainian journalists, Zelenskyy said that neither nuclear weapons nor the possible extension of a so-called nuclear umbrella to Ukraine are on the agenda of negotiations with international partners.

“There is no discussion about nuclear weapons,” Zelenskyy said, responding to a question about possible security guarantees from Britain and France.

According to him, Ukraine is holding talks with European partners and the United States on a broader set of security guarantees, covering both the defense of the continent and specific areas of Ukraine’s defense.

“We are discussing protection on land, in the air and at sea, as well as a separate track focused on air defense and strengthening our army,” the president said.

He also stressed the importance of additional financial support for Ukrainian troops.

“Extra funding for personnel is very important for us, so that our brigades maintain a high level of staffing,” Zelenskyy stressed.
