Following talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko announced his willingness to develop cooperation with the country, including in the military sphere. He also expressed support for Iran’s nuclear programme, which has raised widespread suspicion and was the target of US strikes on nuclear facilities in June this year.

The statement by the Belarusian dictator was cited by the state-run news agency BelTA.

“We are ready to discuss any issues. There are no closed topics for us; we are ready to cooperate on matters ranging from supplying your population with food to military-technical collaboration,” Lukashenko said, emphasising that the Iranian president had visited “friends.”

The self-proclaimed Belarusian leader also “sent greetings” to Iran’s spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and pledged support for the development of “peaceful nuclear energy,” referring to the country’s nuclear programme.
