Russian drone strike on train in Kharkiv region kills civilians

A passenger train in the Barvinkove community of Kharkiv region was hit by a Russian drone. Several people were injured, and updated information confirms that three people have been killed.

The report came from Oleh Synehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

He said the strike by the hostile UAV caused a fire.

«All emergency services are already on site. Buses are being dispatched to transport passengers, ” Synehubov said.

According to Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration — Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksiy Kuleba, preliminary data indicate that the enemy launched three «Shahed”-type drones at the train. Strikes were recorded in front of the locomotive and directly on a passenger carriage, causing a fire.

«There were 291 passengers on board. People were evacuated as quickly as possible. At this time, two people have been injured — they were assisted by the train crew and then transferred to an ambulance. Both have been hospitalized, ” said Oleksiy Kuleba.

He added that the authorities were organizing backup buses for passengers of the attacked train, as well as those waiting for it at other stations. Coordination of assistance is ongoing in real time.

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that updated information confirmed three people had been killed. A man and a woman also went to hospital for treatment.

«Near the village of Yazykove in the Barvinkove community of Izium district, Russian forces attacked a passenger train running the Chop–Kharkiv–Barvinkove route. Two strikes were recorded near the train, with another hitting a carriage. A fire broke out, ” prosecutors said.
