In Kyiv, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with U.S. President’s Special Representative General Keith Kellogg. The Ukrainian defense minister reported this on August 25.
The head of government thanked the American side for the visit at a critical time for Ukraine and for the strong support which, in his words, saves lives and brings a just peace closer. Shmyhal highlighted the importance of the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, which made it possible for NATO countries to transfer U.S.-made weapons and technology to Ukraine more quickly.
During the talks, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Andriy Hnatov and Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov presented the U.S. delegation with a detailed analysis of the situation at the front and the enemy’s plans.
«Together with our partners, we must increase pressure on the aggressor in order to force it into a just and lasting peace, ” the Ukrainian defense minister stressed.
Key topics of discussion included:
scaling up the production of ammunition and drones;
joint projects in the field of defense technologies;
shaping security guarantees for Ukraine;
preparations for signing an agreement between the Presidents of Ukraine and the U.S. on the production and sale of drones (Drone deal).
As a result of the meeting, the Ukrainian side handed over the relevant documents to the American partners to advance the agreements.
«I thank General Kellogg and the United States for their leadership, solidarity, and support for Ukraine on the path to peace, ” Shmyhal concluded.
