Ukraine is banking on money from frozen Russian assets, as the country «won’t be able to function» without them.

The president made these remarks to journalists in London following talks with EU leaders.

«Everyone gets it and shares our view — a decision must be made. Russia’s frozen assets, from the country that has been destroying Ukraine and continues to do so, should serve Ukraine, whether for reconstruction or weaponry if the war drags on. We are counting on this money, we are counting on the aid packages, ” Zelenskyy said.

The president adds that the way the funds are delivered will depend on Europe’s unity and on persuading «the skeptics who are still left.»

«I don’t know whether it will be a reparations loan or something else — it depends on European unity, ” he said.

Zelenskyy stressed that the funding source is also «a question for Europe.»

«I am confident this will be resolved. The leaders promised me. They understand that Ukraine won’t be able to get by without these funds, ” he added.

He also noted that he has already departed for Brussels, where he will meet with top officials, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and others.
