Ukraine’s delegation held its first round of talks in the United States, meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in his evening address on Saturday, March 21.

“It is important for all of us in the world that diplomacy continues and that we are working to end this war – Russia’s war against Ukraine. No one wants this war,” he said.

According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian and U.S. sides will continue their communication on Sunday, March 22.

“The key issue is to understand how ready Russia is to move toward a real end to the war, and whether it is ready to do so honestly and with dignity,” the Ukrainian president said.

He also noted that geopolitical tensions had increased due to the “Iranian situation”.

Zelenskyy added that he expected a detailed report from the Ukrainian negotiators.
