Russia aims to discredit the authorities and create the impression that Ukraine «does not want» to bring back its people, the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council emphasized.

Russia plans to continue an information campaign to discredit the prisoner swaps process.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation on Telegram.

The enemy is preparing new disinformation leaks on this topic, which may include calls and lies claiming that the Ukrainian side allegedly refuses to conduct exchanges on the «all for all» principle, instead doing so only with «selected» prisoners.

Previously, the Center debunked a fake claim that Ukraine allegedly refused to retrieve its citizens from the «Verkhniy Lars» checkpoint.

«Russian propagandists spread the narrative that Kyiv supposedly does not retrieve its citizens, including 90 prisoners of war and former inmates, from neutral territory. In reality, this information was untrue,» the statement reads.

The enemy is further preparing new disinformation leaks on this topic, which may include calls and lies claiming that the Ukrainian side allegedly refuses to conduct exchanges on the «all for all» principle, instead doing so only with «selected» prisoners, the CCD notes.

«By spreading such fakes, Russia seeks to manipulate the exchange process and shift responsibility for its unwillingness to conduct the process transparently. The Russians aim to discredit the authorities and create the impression that Ukraine „does not want“ to bring back its people,» the statement says.

The CCD emphasizes that Ukraine is consistently working to bring back every citizen from captivity and urged the public to trust only verified sources of information.
