Ukraine has still not received any official communication from Russia regarding the «modality for the cessation of hostilities» recently announced by Moscow. Meanwhile, Kyiv is unilaterally declaring a regime of silence, effective at 00:00 on May 6.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the move on Monday.
«We believe that human life is of incomparably greater value than the „celebration“ of any anniversary. In this regard, we are announcing a regime of silence starting at 00:00 on the night of May 5–6. It is realistic to ensure that silence takes effect within the time remaining until that moment,» the Ukrainian leader said.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine would respond in a reciprocal manner from that point forward.
«The time has come for Russian leaders to take real steps toward ending their war, especially if the Russian Ministry of Defense believes it cannot hold a parade in Moscow without Ukraine’s goodwill,» the president added.
