Гринвіцька королівська обсерваторія і британський журнал Sky at Night видавництва BBC оголосили переможців 4-го щорічного конкурсу "Астрономічний фотограф року". Зараз найкращі фотографії можна побачити у виставковому залі обсерваторії, де вони пробудуть до 17 лютого 2013 року.
Переможців визначали в семи номінаціях: "Глибокий космос", "Земля і космос", "Наша Сонячна система", "Люди і космос", "Роботизований телескоп", "Кращий дебют" і "Молодий астроном-фотограф". Гран-прі "взяв" Мартін П'ю з Австралії за чудовий кадр спіральної галактики Вир.
