The Russian army attacks the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast with cluster munitions.

It was reported by the Headquarters of the Joint Forces Operation on March 4.

“In violation of all international regulations, the enemy shelled a residential block and civilian infrastructure of a Ukrainian city. Fortunately, some of the cluster bombs that were dropped on local private houses did not explode,” the report reads.

The HQ of the Joint Forces Operation emphasized that it is extremely dangerous to use this kind of bombs, because they have gel fire starters. Once released from the cluster, they get activated and will explode within 20 hours’ period. They also react to change of temperatures, which is why these items must not be moved in any case.

Cluster munition shelling that affects vast areas is indiscriminate by definition, thus using them in population centers is a war crime.
