"Putin, we hope you die": Jews from Kyiv, who had survived the Holocaust, recorded a video message

Ukrainian-born Jews who had survived the Holocaust and had lost their friends and relatives in Babyn Yar recorded a video message to Russian President Vladimir Putin with an appeal to leave the country.

This video appeal was published on Wednesday, March 2.

The authors of the appeal are the residents of a capital's nursing home and now they are forced to hide in a bomb shelter from Russian strikes.

"I was born in Ukraine. On June 22, 1941, I found myself under bombing in Kyiv. My relatives died in Babyn Yar. On February 24, 2022, I find myself again in Kyiv under bombing and shelling. Putin, take away your troops and get out of Ukraine. We need peace! " - Valentina Iosypivna Romanova said in her apeal.

"My relatives died in Babyn Yar in 1941. Now I am sitting in a bomb shelter and enemy bombs are falling on me. Putin, get out of Kyiv and Ukraine!" – these are words of Oleh Iakovlevich, who was born in 1940 in Kyiv.

"Before the war began I had been living in Kyiv, I’m a native of Kyiv. The war started in 1941. My relatives on the mother's side are Jews. All of them were taken to Babyn Yar. They died there. Today I also see the war in Kyiv, but in another century, terrible century… Putin, I hope you die! Leave us alone, asshole, so we would not see or hear you - who you are and what you are… "- Tamara Jleksiivna said, who was born in the capital in 1939.

We remind, on March 1 the Russian aviation hit Babyn Yar in Kyiv. As a result, 5 people who came there to honor the victims of the Holocaust were killed, and another 5 were injured. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the attack on Babyn Yar and called on Jews around the world to condemn the killings of civilians in Ukraine.
